The Jewellery Quarter development created flats and retail space within one of the best known areas of Birmingham. The development involved the retention of the listed façade of the building and a redevelopment of the rear. We worked with the borrower to ensure that the soft equity generated through the planning process limited their equity input whilst satisfying our gearing requirements.
The Jewellery Quarter is an ever popular area within Birmingham, which while undergoing redevelopment, remains true to its name, still producing over 40% of the jewellery on the UK’s high street. A designated conservation area with over 200 listed buildings, much like our borrower’s scheme, it is a unique mix of residential buildings, retailers, and restaurants.
