James Henry

James has over 10 years’ experience spanning real estate development and investment lending, corporate and institutional banking, and real estate management. James holds both a Bachelor of Property and Bachelor of Commerce (specialising in Commercial Law) from the University of Auckland.

James started in the corporate real estate services sector, quickly progressing to be a surveyor for one of New Zealand’s largest banks, Westpac New Zealand. From there joining the Westpac Property Finance team, responsible for deal origination, credit analysis and portfolio management. In this time James was involved in funding projects across a variety of asset classes including residential, commercial, retirement living and aged care, and marinas.

James then moved into Westpac’s Institutional Bank as a Senior Associate, where he was responsible for credit analysis, financial analysis, and relationship management on portfolio lending to listed REITs, property funds and listed retirement village and aged care operators. In this position James led the credit analysis for the re-financing of c. £1.75billion of loan facilities.

Since joining Maslow in 2018, James has been involved in the origination, structuring, and underwriting of over £600m of new lending. This lending includes landmark deals, across residential, student accommodation and serviced apartments, including leading the structuring and completion of a £258m development facility for a residential developer in London and a £123m development facility for a residential developer in Manchester.
