James Henry holds a Bachelor of Property and Bachelor of Commerce (specialising in Commercial Law), from the University of Auckland. James started his career in the corporate real estate services sector, acting as a surveyor for one of New Zealand’s largest banks, Westpac New Zealand.
James progressed to joining Westpac’s Property Finance team, in which he was responsible for deal origination, credit analysis and portfolio management. In this time James was involved in funding projects across a variety of asset classes including residential, commercial, retirement living and aged care, marinas, industrial and shopping centres.
James then moved into Westpac’s Institutional Bank, where he was responsible for credit analysis, financial analysis, and relationship management on portfolio lending to listed REITs, multi-national property funds and listed retirement village and aged care operators. In this position James led the credit analysis for the re-financing of c. £1.75billion of loan facilities.
In 2018, James joined Maslow Capital, where he serves as the Director of Development Origination. In this capacity, he has played a pivotal role in the origination, structuring, and underwriting of over £700 million in new lending. Notable financing includes a £258 million development facility for a residential developer in London and a £123 million development facility for a residential developer in Manchester.
