This new build involved the demolition of a single-story warehouse, which was replaced by 27 new apartments. There were initially some issues in due diligence with the previous vendor refusing access to the borrower to investigate the possibility of contamination (based upon the site’s historic use as a wharf) but Maslow and the borrower worked together to undertake these checks to a satisfactory level.

The property is situated between a railway embankment and a large mixed-use development in Hackney, a relatively young borough with a quarter of its population under 20 years old, with local jobs focusing on advertising, design, architecture and the performing arts.
